“For the past 12 years as a neonatal-pediatric & “big-people” flight nurse, I have transported hundreds of critically ill infants & children. In my outreach education, I stress the idea of “getting away from memorizing numbers.” This is crucial as when a child is “actively trying to die”, “your brain simply doesn’t work right.” Therefore, pediatric resuscitation guides such as the Pedi-Wheel are invaluable to both prehospital, ED, & inpatient healthcare workers. The wheel has age on one side (with equipment) & weight on the other (with medications). In a crisis situation, it is simple to use & has the “I need this right now information” easily accessible. I highly recommend & promote use of the Pedi-Wheel to all healthcare workers who potentially care for “sick” or “not-sick” children.”
